Goodricke College

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Goodricke College, which will be your new home whilst you are resident here on campus. As Provost I am responsible for the general pastoral and well-being of all the members of the College, including discipline. I lead a team of trained individuals including a Deputy Provost, a Dean, four Tutors and the College Administrator who are here to help to ensure you have a productive and enjoyable time whilst at York.

Please remember that the College is your home or base during your time at York and the College staff and support team are here to help you. The College is also a community influenced by past members, yourselves and those who are yet to follow you. Please help to maintain the quality of the College and the community culture. If you need help, no matter how trivial it may seem to you, please ask. I live on the Heslington West campus with my family in Goodricke Provost Lodge, located close to the Roger Kirk Centre. You are always welcome to drop by and see me at any time.

We believe Goodricke College provides an excellent base to socialise with other students, many of whom may turn out to be lifelong friends. Each of the three residential courtyards is a small community. Every courtyard has at least one Tutor who can provide an easily accessible system of support on a personal basis for those who require it. For students who like to be involved, there is a wide range of social and sporting opportunities as well as posts of responsibility on the Junior Common Room committee.

We hold a variety of social events during the year. If you are a new student, I look forward to meeting you at one of these events during the Autumn term, but if I can help at any time, please do make contact with me. My office is located in the College Nucleus.

Enjoy yourself, have fun, work and play hard – that way you can fully benefit from life at the University of York and your College! The staff at Goodricke College join me in wishing you all the best for a rewarding time at the University of York.
