Disabilities

Goodricke College is a great place to live and study, you will make great friends whilst enjoying some of the best facilities the University has to offer. As a member of Goodricke you can enjoy all of that and will be made welcome at everything that goes on! As an undergraduate student if you have a disability, have questions about disabilities or want some help with anything, then you have access to a wealth of resources and fantastic people who will be able to help you out whatever the problem, just ask.

The JCRC is here as you’re elected representatives and the Disability Rep(s) are always a friendly face that can offer you help. If you don’t know where the Student Support building is, want to know about disabled friendly facilities, want an event that is more suited to you, or just want some advice or a friendly chat, then grab one of these guys. There will events held where you can drop in and chat to them and sometimes get some free food, these events will be advertised well in advance and if you’re unsure just ask anyone on the JCRC. The Disability Rep(s) can help you with most things and if they can’t, they will get you in touch with someone who can. If you feel you would be able to make a difference as one of our Disability officers, you could run for Disability Rep in the JCRC elections.

If you can’t find one of our Disability Reps then give any of our JCRC members a shout who will do what they can to help or get hold of the Disability Rep(s) for you. These guys are all great and will be happy to help or have a good chat. It’s worth getting hold of them just for a chat!

Another option is our College Welfare Team. The College Welfare team is made up of our resident tutors (who are all fantastic), they live in your blocks and you should get to meet them, feel free to get hold of them just for a chat, or a cup of tea and cake (you might have to provide the tea and cake, but you never know!). The tutors are Graduate students who are really friendly and will be able to help you with any problems. The other members of the College Welfare Team; The Provost, Deputy Provost and Dean are all great as well and will be able to help you with anything. Our College Administrator is also in the Nucleus and she will be able to offer advice and support and is another great person.

The Porters can also help you with some issues that may arise or will be able to put you in contact with any of the above if they can’t. They are located in the Hub and can be contacted on 1904 325100 (32 5100 from you’re room phone). All of our porters are amazing and really friendly and will be happy to help.

Goodricke has such a good atmosphere, you will feel welcome in all parts of college life and will have a great time. If you do find yourself needing help with anything then you can rest assured that there will be loads of people happy to help. Remember just ask!

Enjoy your time at Goodricke!
