Hello there! We’re your friendly JCRC Welfare representatives Paula and Conor, and we work together and with other members of the JCRC to ensure your experience here at the brilliant Goodricke College is the best it could possibly be.
Specifically, we are here to provide you with a range of activities and events to keep you entertained and help you make the most of your time here. For example GoodMood, our weekly free food event
We’re also here to listen to any concerns you might have about uni life – be it getting used to living away from home or wondering how to rent a DVD from our fantastic collection – and putting you in touch with the people who are best equipped to help you with your query (if those people aren’t us) :)
If you want to come meet us, talk, ask a question or simply chill in a quiet space, you can pop in to one of our fortnightly GoodSpace sessions, or alternatively drop us an email at welfare@goodricke.co.uk.
We also work closely with the broader College Welfare and Support Team (more information on their individual roles here) who are lovely and extremely helpful in any situation where you require assistance.
Further to the in-college welfare support, there are a large number of other services available at the university to benefit your general well-being, including (but not limited to) the following:
Nightline: Student run listening, information and sexual health supplies service for students of York and York St.John Universities. – 01904 323735 – Click here for the Facebook page.
ASC: The Advice and Support Centre – Offers information on both academic and welfare issues. Located in James College. Further information available here.
The Health Centre – Across the lake from Central Hall, your nearest medical service for your time at the university – www.york.ac.uk/student-support-services/handbook/health.
The Open Door Team – The first point of contact for any student experiencing emotional, psychological or mental-health difficulties. – Further details here.
We’re always around and love to hear from you, so don’t hesitate to drop us an email! Remember we are welfare@goodricke.co.uk.
Welfare love,
Paula and Conor :)
